South Africa was one of the most productive countries on the African continent until the ravaging of southern Africa by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Today South Africa is suffering from the impact of this devastating disease. Until recently, many people refused to acknowledge the extent of the AIDS pandemic - including politicians - but the proof is everywhere. Standing as evidence are thousands of broken families, child-headed households, and orphans that fill the townships.
Ambassadors have stepped into this situation of hopelessness with the establishment of The Pines Christian Care Center for Children, located in Welkom, South Africa. The Pines strives to provide for children a family atmosphere filled with love and a sense of security, promoting their sound spiritual and emotional growth. These children are now surrounded by people whose goal is not only to provide for daily needs to see them live to adulthood, but that they might be saved by God's grace and then impact their culture for Christ.
